I agree whole-heartedly with art guerilla’s letter. The campaign was so poorly run it was pathetic. They dismissed seniors from the very start thinking they would never vote for the amendment but in my campaign stops (which I tried to tailor to senior venues) there was always great interest and a willingness to learn. The other great failure of United for Care was not anticipating the opposition’s finish line push. It was obvious that money would be poured in at the last minute and that anti-drug organizations would do everything in their power to stop this. United for Care’s inability to not see this coming is akin to standing in the middle of the railroad tracks facing an oncoming freight train.
If United for Care does try this again I hope they turn to some of us who have been at this issue for more than nine months and who can offer some advice.
